For the perfect chip why not try our "The Same Every Time" Fluffy Potatoes.

This year the key messages are:

Chips are a great British tradition!

Chips can be enjoyed as part of a healthy balanced diet.

Chips are great value especially when made at home.

A great British Tradition:

- 87% of the population  chips!
- 1 in 4 British potatoes are turned into chips!

- Over 200 million chip meals are sold in chip shops each year.

Healthy Balance:

- Oven Chips only contain 5% fat.

- A chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and a plain nann contain 20% more calories
than fish and chips.

- Sweet and Sour chicken, egg fried rice and two spring rolls contain 22% more
calories than fish and chips.

- A Doner kebab contains 686 more calories than fish and chips!

Make them at home:

-- This is how we like to prepare our chips.

- Chips are a healthy option when homemade as they make an overall contribution
of just 0.2% to overall sodium intake.

Did you know!

- We have over 1000 chip shops in the United Kingdom!

- Prices vary regionally, as does size however a portion of chips usually reflects the
price of a large white loaf of bread and fish normally falls in line with a pint of lager!

- The record number of chip portions sold in a day at a fish and chip shop was 4,000.

- During the Second World War, chips were one of the few foods that weren’t rationed.

- Chris Verschueren, from Kastel, Belgium holds the world record for the longest French
Fries cooking marathon. He cooked for 83 hours, serving 15,000 portions of chips.
